Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I know if I am ready for therapy?
Therapy is hard work and it is best to approach when you are ready to enter into the commitment. Contact me for a 15 minute free consultation to discuss this further and determine whether now is the right time for you.
Is it normal to feel anxious about starting therapy?
Absolutely. Starting therapy can be vulnerable and many people worry about being judged or wonder if therapy will even work for them. I honour the risk it takes to show up in the therapy space. These feelings are completely normal. Building a safe relationship is always my first priority.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes, I offer a free 15 minute video or phone consultations before booking an initial intake session. Research shows us that the main indicator of positive change in therapy is the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client. It is the utmost important factor to me to ensure the right match.
What type of clients do you see?
I work with people who struggle with anxiety that may show up as people pleasing, perfectionism, self doubt, or people who never quite feel “good enough”. Sometimes this is people in high pressure jobs such as medical or first responder, or those who carry a high level of responsibility or personal standard. I also work with a variety of other concerns such as grief and loss, women’s issues, stress/burnout, self esteem, family challenges, relationship concerns, and life transitions.
Do you offer couple’s counselling or family therapy?
At this time I only offer individual therapy to adults 18+.
Do you offer phone sessions?
Phone sessions are available after at least 3 video sessions. Building the therapeutic relationship and trust is crucial in my work, and I find it is best to do this “face to face” in the beginning of our work together.
What modalities do you use in your practice?
I integrate approaches like ACT, attached based, emotion focused, mindfulness, systemic and SBFT. I don’t believe that therapy is a one size fits all model. This process is collaborative and we shape it together based on needs.
Do you work with individuals involved in court proceedings, or custody meditation?
No
